About

U.N.V. is an American musical group that emerged from Lansing, Michigan, blending the smooth sounds of Contemporary R&B, Quiet Storm, and Pop Soul. Formed by brothers John "J-Ski" Powe and Shawn Powe, the group expanded to include John "J.C." Clay and Demetrius "Peete" Peete. Known for their harmonious a cappella compositions, U.N.V. gained attention in the early 1990s with their hit "Something's Goin' On," which led to a deal with Maverick Records. Their releases, including the album Something's Goin' On, showcased their ability to craft emotive and melodic R&B tracks that resonated with audiences.
