About

Viola Beach was an English indie rock band hailing from Warrington, known for their upbeat and optimistic sound reminiscent of early Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. The group originally formed in 2013, featuring Kris Leonard (vocals, guitar), Jack Dakin (drums), Frankie Coulson (guitar), and Jonny Gibson (bass). In 2015, the lineup evolved with River Reeves (guitar) and Tomas Lowe (bass) joining the band. Viola Beach quickly gained attention with their infectious tracks like "Swings & Waterslides," and a posthumous debut album that topped the UK charts, securing their legacy in the indie scene.

How to Sound Like Viola Beach

Viola Beach's sound is characterized by its energetic and bright guitar tones, coupled with catchy, melodic hooks that drive their vibrant tracks. The use of Fender Standard Telecasters and Gibson Les Paul Studio 50s Tribute P90s, often paired with the Fender Vintage Reissue '65 Twin Reverb, contributed to a clean yet punchy sound that was both modern and nostalgic. Their music features crisp, rhythmic drumming and lively bass lines, creating a dynamic and engaging sonic landscape that is both uplifting and immersive.
