Warumpi Band is a pioneering Australian rock group that emerged from Papunya in the Northern Territory in 1980. Known for blending Australian rock, alternative rock, and indigenous music, the band was a trailblazer in incorporating indigenous languages into contemporary music. The lineup featured George Rrurrambu (vocals), Neil Murray (guitar, bass), Sammy Butcher (guitar), and Gordon Butcher (drums). They gained significant acclaim with their groundbreaking single "Jailanguru Pakarnu," the first rock song commercially released in an indigenous language. Their albums Big Name No Blankets, Go Bush, and Too Much Humbug are celebrated for tracks like "Blackfella Whitefella" and "My Island Home," cementing their place in the history of Australian music.
