Wheat is an indie rock band hailing from Taunton, Massachusetts, known for their dreamy, atmospheric sound that draws inspiration from British shoegaze and alternative rock. Formed in 1996, the group originally consisted of Scott Levesque (vocals, guitar), Brendan Harney (drums), and Ricky Brennan (guitar), with contributions from other musicians such as Mike Flood, Kevin Camara, and Kenny Madaras. Wheat's music blends elements of ambient textures, slowcore, and Brit-pop, creating a sound that is both introspective and expansive. Their early albums, Medeiros and Hope and Adams, received critical acclaim for their innovative soundscapes and were produced with the help of Flaming Lips producer Dave Fridmann.
