Stunning value...

Short on cash I couldn't spring for the Neumann equivalent, but these guys are more than adequate. Sometimes I add my TLM 103 in the middle if I'm doing something like a guitar. I initially tired this to compare the quality in sound, and turns out it's a neat trick for beefy acoustic guitars! As far as quality goes, for the money they're outstanding. They are a little nasal in the mids somewhere, but not noticeable till comparing the sound to another superior mic.

Also, they are obviously hyper directional so ideal for countless other 'mono' applications..

Incredibly useful, and brimming with staple instruments of an incredibly high quality.

Occasionally I find the high quality of sampling is a little characterless. I'd always prefer to record live instruments of this reason. However, when short on time a ready to go Organ preset or a well recorded Glockenspiel is a magical resource.

Also, I find that some instruments like the Studio drummer, or Abbey Road 6t0's Drummer are a bit too complicated to manipulate internally. \ This can be frustrating as the presets are ultimately not very useful. It pays to learn how to get the sounds you reach for most, as it can be time consuming dialling in the right amount of room sound for each drum etc...

Totally transparent. Ultra reliable. Used every day.

"Work horse" people say a lot, which is true although perhaps a little reductive. It is as true to real life as a microphone could get - totally flat / transparent frequency response curve. Got all the moving parts a U87 does, and sounds like it. Perhaps a touch more 'crude' if I had to tell the difference.

Occasionally I yearn for a figure of 8 pattern, let alone an omni, but frankly my work load doesn't really require it so I just roll my eyes and move on : ).

Not a better studio guitar available...

Will never want for another acoustic... at least not one so balanced, pure and playable.. One might want something with more character like a Gibson Dove say.. but the way it sings down a mic is simply unparalleled.

Fantastic intonation, although like all acoustics it has slipped a little bit in the first year. No frills, just the best sound money can buy.

The automatic tuner is sensational when it works - has been a bit temperamental of late, although thats hardly a problem when you realise you're holding a gold top Deluxe....

Sounds sensational... and the Clapton style mid booster is not only far more useful than an second tone pot, but it also rocks!!

The volume pots are "tapped" - i.e. you can pull them out to convert the hum buckers to single coils... thinner sounding which is excellent for mimicking older more classic guitar sounds.

The Rhythm / Treble mid position with the taps 'in' is such a thick sound you could pour it from a jug.

If you love that Gold Top look, buy one!

Audibly high quality DA converters. Lovely great big volume knob.

The funny shape is ok I guess - would rather they released it as U-Rack mountable but it sits proudly on my desk..Handy playback / direct signal mix knob, good for trouble shooting signal chain problems...

Lovely great big volume knob. Slightly Awkward guitar and headphone inputs.. could be solved by putting them either on the back or the front. Regardless - excellent value for money. Also comes with Lexicon reverbs but I haven't used them... Looked too complicated to set up and I'm very happy with the Native Instruments 24 & 48 units...!

Great action, looks and feels fantastic - unfortunately no CC11

Very cool piece, I won't loose it, despite the acute lack of CC11 output (i.e. no expression pedal option...) the port available only delivers the MIDI signal for 'master volume'. As in, within Kontakt the expression pedal would control the volume of the instrument, and is not assignable to any parameters within the instrument.

If Doepfer had made this clearer I would have splashed out for the LMK4+, was just trying to save cash! Don't know if I will be able to upgrade anytime soon, but I will when I can!

Excellent frequency response and range - perfect monitors.

Like all monitors they deserve a good room, as mine suffer very unfortunate flat parallel walls. The manual says they take a few hours to warm up on first use - very true, I noticed a marked change5 or 6 hours in.. My 'left' BM6aIII had quite a unique problem. A loud and explosive 'popping' sound would happen, repetitively and quickly, after I turned it on first thing in the morning. I sent it to be repaired but it's now coming back slowly. If anyone has had a similar problem I'd really appreciate any advice you may have on fixing it!

Excluding that odd mechanical issue which I'm sure is very rare, they are possibly the most valuable investment I've ever made... Also they appear to be getting cheaper with the release of new models, so quickly!!! Go Shopping!!!
