I can see this being the workhorse.

The set neck feels a bit like an Ibanez, and I'm not used to dual humbuckers on a Tele, but you can coil split them to get the chime in addition to the PAF/Pearly Gates tones the Seymour Duncan's provide. It's very utilitarian and reasonably priced. I should probably buy a second.
