JEEEEUSS CHRIST!! Who designed this guitar?! It's absolutely hideous! Someone at Gibson must have gone: Hey woulnd't it be cool if the spaceship from Star Trek was a guitar? And then the folks at Gibson went: NO! But they made it anyway and set the price to 4000 bucks!! Idiotic ideas like this is the reason they're going bankrupt. What do you guys think about this?

Awsome answer dude!! Super long though so I didn't quite understand everything. It seems like I should maybe replace the nut and perhaps upgrade to some kickass hipshot tuners? What about string butlers? Would they fit on a V and or would that be effective?

Does anyone have any experience with flying Vs and the tuning issues that come with them. I recently purchased an Epiphone Brent Hinds V and I'm super happy with it, HOWEVER... it has tuning issues. The guitar will detune and that sucks as I hoped it would have pretty good tuning stability. Now I'm assuming the cause of this is the way the strings leave the nut. It's a rather "Classic" looking V so the strings leave the nut very slanted. I think I have 3 options here. I could replace the plastic nut for something like a Graphtec nut. I could change the Grovers that are on, for locking tuners. Or I could get a string retainer that makes the strings leave the nut straight.

What should I do? Budget isn't an issue. Should I perhaps do all three?

Cool. Doesn´t sound like it´s too tricky. I don´t know if I would dare to do something like that though. What if I screw it up?

I'm not sure. It's got a maple top and a strong burst, can you just paint over it and if so what paint?

Awsome! Thanks for your reply. Those 70s Teles look pretty sick. I'll see if I can pick up one used. Also what do you think about the ESP LTD Tele series. I just found out those have one singlecoil, one humbucker in the bridge aswell as a maple fretboard. Could it be a match made in heaven?

She thinks I need a makeover

Looking for a guitar of the telecaster shape. I'd love a humbucker in the neck but on most teles there are only singlecoils. An ideal design for me would be a humbucker in the neck and a singlecoil in the bridge aswell as a maple fretboard. I suppose I could buy a second hand tele and put a stacked single coil in, but I don't think it will sound the same. Maybe these requirements are too strict but if anyone knows any guitars please suggest them!!

From what I hear they sound very similar. You mainly get more space on your pedal board though. Obviously one costs half as much as the other so there might be a small quality difference but I reckon that will be very minor. I would go for the TS Mini.

I see what you're saying. I'll see what I do. As HUGE Trivium fan I do quiet like the Matt Heafy Epiphone but I'm not sure I want EMGs :)

I few months back I bought an Epiphone Les Paul Standard but over time I've grown to hate the finish. The finish is Honeyburst and I just don't feel it suits me. I play mostly trash and metalcore and would want something more closer to a "metal guitar". I'm not sure if I should sell this guitar and buy something different (I have my eye on the Epiphone Brent Hinds). The guitar plays and feels nice, the problem lies in the finish. Someone please help me out. I've been fighting this problem for weeks now!!

I primarely use Ernie Balls. I've tried a whole bunch of different gauges on my Les Paul but landed on 10-52. I mostly tune down to drop C#.
