The point of buying an expensive guitar?
It's always pretty subjective, but, the last guitar I bought was a Heritage H-150. I have never owned a Gibson in 45+ years of playing, unless we're counting the two Epiphones I bought and returned due to lousy fret work. While shopping, I compared the H-150 to a new Gibson Standard. Essentially the same price, but the H-150 was far far nicer, no comparison at all.
I do believe that you get what you pay for and that manufacturing has come a long way with automation. You can get real solid stuff at a reasonable price.

Any thoughts on Vertex effects? I have a few of their pedals, love 'em. I have the Boost, Steel String, T-Drive and Ultraphonix.

I tend to agree on the 'Blues' amps, they go from 0 to mind numbing loud between 0 and 2, so... Didn't know that about the Supros, thanks. I have been considering the Bassbreaker too. I need something portable and loud that can deal with pedals, I'm too old to be dealing with a ton of heavy gear. Been there and done that, no thanks. A buddy of mine got a couple Devilles, the regular one and the Landau, loves them. He still has Marshalls, a Boogie, and just ditched his Amp1. Again, portable and simple.
I do recall the whole Maxon thing though. Ya know, after all these damn pedals I buy, I always go back and think that I should just get some Boss pedals. Those things always sounded great, rock solid, took a beating, easy to use. The MS3 is on my list too.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the SD1. I'm in the process of finding an amp, but that's another thread I suppose. :-) Debating over a Blues Jr, Blues Deluxe, or the Supro Keeley 1970RK. The concern with the Supro is if it'll be loud enough to use with a band.

The Tube Screamer is always a good choice. Years ago (like a lot of years ago) I had one that I ran into a Marshall stack, glorious. :-)

I have that one, nice pedal. People tend to think of it only as a modern metal pedal, which I get because of the marketing and demos. But, it's more versatile than just that.

I'm on the waiting list for the King of Tone. I have a bunch of OD pedals, but that's the one I truly want. Mike makes some great stuff.
As with most anything related to guitar and guitar gear, personal preference.
