Bought this as a second to my Ibanez Bass Phat Hed. I love noisy, dirty bass tone on a budget, but the trouble with affordable bass distortion pedals is that they take away more from your tone than they add to it. To me there's not point adding noise with a pedal if it kills your ground and your audience stops feeling the low-end. I bought this after hearing demos of the £150 Ibanez bass driver, which to me sounded like a fart on a snare drum. This is now my first choice pedal, I can use it to boost my signal while adding a surprisingly versatile drive with the blend dial. I've even recorded with it DI and it sounded great.

My personal rule for Behringer gear is 'use them for power, not for sound'. While their power supplies are more than reliable, anything that taps into the signal chain adds more noise than tone. The exception to this is this cab. I bought this with their generic bass head, which was fine until I had it stolen. I now have a suitable alternative and this cab still does the job just fine. Four reliable speakers and a tweeter, a nice carpeted finish which attracts cat hair. Never let me down so far. Unfortunately has as much weight and size as it's worth. I struggle to find the storage for it, and even with a dedicated trolley I struggle to move it. I may break my back one day moving it, but it'll still handle everything I plug in to it.

I bought this a few years back to tour the world and roll in money like my previous band promised me. It sat in my dad's garage until I found a use for it in my current project. It's loud enough, has enough control for recording, and sturdy enough so dials and inputs don't fall off. Sometimes I struggle to get the volume and tone I want out of it, but that's more likely to be from my own ability. The fuse is loose and has a habit of falling out, but won't let me down if I keep an eye on it.

I must have spent a good year researching my ideal bass, and a trip to Denmark street, London found me the answer. Fortunately, by working for a Yamaha supplier at the time, Yamaha provided a great service and even got me a great deal for a brand new bass that wasn't even made when I ordered it. It's taken a serious beating over the years, but still remains my most reliable and treasured possession.
