Great hybrid Tube amp

I picked this up for $100.00 along with the little speaker and cable. Not impressed at all with the speaker, but it sound huge through a 2x12 or 4x12; it is even nice through a 1x12. It has tube response so you can throw an OD in front and get more out of it. The effects loop is great for delay, reverb or other after preamp pedals. It can be loud enough for small to mid size venues. I have even used it to go to a board by utilizing the phones output: This was perfect for multi-effects. Great little tool for the shed!

One of the Best Clean Amps

Much has been said about this, so I won't cover what has been said.

The older version is what you want. It is the standard in clean amps having been used on many recordings that you hear. The older one was extremely clean with no background noise. I point this out as I also owned a newer one. It developed a small hissssssss as it got older. My amp tech told me this was due to lesser quality parts. He was able to make the repair, but it never lived up to the older one.

It takes pedals extremely well.

Good Guitar with Issues

This is a good guitar that with a few changes can be a very good guitar.

It has tuning issues because of the nut and Bigsby. I changed the nut to bone and put a roller bridge on mine and it holds tune now.

It plays well and the pickups are the best part of this guitar. They can give a wide range of tone from clean to classic rock. There is no humm from them that I have found. The pots are good but could be better.

This guitar is heavy. If you play a long time it will let you know. It seems to be balanced toward the bigsby.

It is really worth the time to own because of the tone. If you can get one, you should.

China!!?? Nice guitar!

The quality of this instrument is excellent. You'll have to go to the custom shop to find better. I picked it up from a friend who had it hanging on the wall. He said he traded for it. I pulled it off the wall and started playing it. In 5 min I knew it was going home with me.
I have changed the switch and the pots with Emerson stuff; this woke it up even more. The pickups have that nice p90 tone that you look for in these. I have considered replacing them, but then I play these and stick with them. They fall in the range of a classic p90 from the 60's (yes I have played some on Gibsons). The finish is an eye grabber. The neck is just not too big and not too small. The only noise I get is hum from the pickups, but that's classic p90. Great buy!

Fantastic for the price

Wait, did someone underprice this by accident? Crisp highs, booming lows, clarity without getting mushy. I've played much higher priced guitars that don't come close to this. It is bigger that most I have held, but it is comfortable any way. I got this while on tour and everyone in the band wanted to play it every chance they had. If you can still find one go get it.

Excellent for the price

I bought this this morning, but have been after my friend to sell it to me for some time, so I have played it much. He never/seldom used it. I got it for a good price because it is used. The electronics are all very nice. The pots are very good quality (maybe the best I've seen). The pickups get some tough reviews online, but I think they are matched well. The bridge is bright sounding and the pot has a nice even roll off with tone and volume. It doesn't have extreme high gain like some humbuckers, but seems to me to be good for classic rock, blues, jazz, and anything clean. The neck is much sweeter and seems more pleasant to my ear. The two working together can produce a wide range of tone. I tend to keep it in middle position with the tone dialed back on the bridge. The finish is nice, but I have seen better. The big issue is the f holes are not smooth underneath where the finish was sprayed. This is an easy fix. I can't speak to the factory setup, because my friend does this well. It plays like a dream with low action and no issues. The price I'm seeing on thesevused is in the $700 range and $899 or more for new. This guitar is well worth more than that. The fact that it was made in Korea doesn't bother me; some American made guitars I have had don't measure up to this. I had an old epiphone Sheraton case that it fits like a glove in so I was happy about that too.

I've been playing this a lot over the last week and did my first gig with it this week. Lots of comments on the tone and beauty of the guitar. It is light so playing into the night is not hard. I love it.

I sent the pickups off for a rewind to Radioshop.com because of the vast difference in the neck and the bridge. They did sound good before, but the bridge wasn't what I wanted.

Nice guitar not up to old Gretsch quality.

This was given to me as a gift. I liked the sounds, but the pickups can be a little hot for those who want "that Gretsch sound." I changed the pots right away and put in a tone bleed. Made a huge difference. It did come with a decent setup and plays nice. 4 of 5

Great little amp

This thing does it all. All tube El84 x 2 12ax7 x3 Every sound there is is here. I play it through a 2x12 or a 4x12 cab most of the time. The original speaker didn't do It for me so I put in a creamback.

It can produce cleans in the Fender style with no problem. The spring reverb is excellent and has a classic sound.

This amp can produce Marshall sounds and has been called a "stack in a box".

I've played it next to a vox top boost switching back and forth with an aby switch and prefer the sweeter sound of the bravo. The vox seems harsh by this amp.

The push/pull knob makes this thing go to another level of gain. I don't use it much as it is not my style. I mostly play it clean or with the gain on the dirty side at about 3 as it gives a great blues sound this way.

Now remember, I've changed the speaker and play it mostly with a 2x12 cab.

This my be the best all around amp Peavey has ever produced; IMHO.

Best Clean Tube Power Amp Made

I had one of these back in the 80's and I thought it was great. However, when I started playing smaller venues I sold it. I've regretted it ever since. I recently got another and I am overjoyed at the sound it has. Pure clean which takes pedals better than anything I have ever seen. I run it stereo with 2 4x12 cabs.
