It's a smaller sibling to my PortaTone from the '80s. It's not competitive with modern synths, but it has more octaves/polyphony for its dirt-cheap price. They're some of the few PSRs that have sliders/directional pads, regardless of engines. I think the difference is mine has a polyphony of 8+1; the extra voice works monophonically. Pretty sure the 80 just has 8 notes of poly.

It's a confusing instrument, but it's a valid entry point into synthesis. I personally lean more towards high polyphony, so it's been the right synth for me.

It was probably amateur when it came out, although I'd say its I/O is semi-pro. With today's options, it's probably a toy.

Mine is the PSR-90 if you also wanna add that.
