Electric drum kit suggestions

This kinda fits in this section...

Looking for the "step up from entry level" electric kit. Wanting one that has adjustable snare positioning and a bit of variety in it's setup... e.g. moving hats from left side to right, but keeping the rest of the kit static...

any experiences... the "worth a shot" and the "walk on by" advices would be appreciated and taken on board.

GEAR:
  • Fender MIJ Jazzmaster JM62
  • Epiphone Dot
  • Electro-Harmonix Sovtek "Green Russian" Big Muff Pi V7C

I think I said this to you when we were talking yesterday, but I had a roland V-Drum kit I really liked, just a middle of the road one.... it was used too, late 90s model.... really not bad for electronic drums

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

I don't have experience in this area, but I have been looking at getting me a drum kit to teahc myself drumming. These 3 all caught my eye.

heads up, in V-Drums you want the kits that look like this:

https://www.roland.com/global/products/td-25k/

where the pads have some depth like a rototom or something, that's what I had and it wasn't bad to play on at all -- not that I'm a drummer, but I can drum adequately for 2 to 6 minutes and I sued to play in indoor drumline in school so I'm rpettys ensitive to how sticks contact drum heads and what feels natural when you're rolling or doing a flam.... the roland ones with depth to the pads were the only electronic drums I could ever feel comfortable playing on, they didn't hurt my arm when I hit hard and they had give and bounce like a drunken coed's as--- erk, sorry

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

All of these ones that you guys are suggesting are awesome kits! However, they all feature mesh pads. Marking them as higher Quality but more costly products. As this is essentially for a 12-year-old girl to be playing on, I am looking initially at a rubber pads kit but not the complete entry level… Just one step above should be enough to get her into usable territory. She does not need cymbal choke, But needs to be able to adjust the kit to her height and also be adjusted to my height snirk

I still think you want the mesh pads.... even if the feel is not an issue, the ones with the simmons style rubber pads are bad for your wrists

  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

yep. sucky prices in Australia

that's too bad... have you looked at used? I got my roland v-drums used and saved some money because it was just the drums and not the little 'brain' soundbanky gadget.... I used to trigger other stuff with them or play into cubase as MIDI and eventually got a really cool 3rd party, rackmountable soundbank too before selling them due to a lack of space in my walk up and a desire to entertain more often and get some actual furniture (that place was more like a music equipment warehouse with a nice eat in kitchen, a full bathroom and a futon jammed in the amp room than a home -- I don't even think I owned a TV back then). I wound up reclaiming the living room by ditching the V-Drums and moving my computer and racks further into a corner to make room for people to hang out and drink wine with me. It seemed important at the time, but all this electronic drum talk is making me want that roland setup back.

ANY FINGER DRUMMERS HERE?

I think the cheapest option to give the girl without sacrificing play-ability is to get her a real drum set. It will be loud, but real. Then, Real loud!

Thank you all. We went acoustic!
