A bad month for Kevin Parker?

When sorting each artist category by "most popular", I see that Mr. Parker is no longer the most-visited Producer, Drummer, Bassist, Singer, Composer, DJ, etc... The results now look like a nice compromise between this community's obsessions and general popularity within the western world in 2020. An improvement, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm curious which of these explains this previously Kevin-dominated state:

1. it was a bug?

2. a good portion of this community is, at least right now, dudes in their 30s and 40s obsessed with sounding like Tame Impala, so the sorting algorithm had to recieve some curatorial re-weigthing to make the results less awkward?

We tweaked the algorithm. Glad you noticed.

We used to track over all cumulative impressions, but that led to a bloated database and a rich getting richer effect. That’s why certain pages like Tame Impala were perpetually at the top.

Now we are updating placements based on page views over the last one week.

What do you all think?

I like Tame Impala just fine, but I'm relieved to hear a switch to a weekly frame was sufficient to generated these new results. cheers!
