Another Attack

I thought you guys might want to hear about this, but after France attacks just happened, there's more coming in from Turkey about a possible coup. Military lockdown is going on, and this was just listed:

Social media blocked in Turkey at the moment.

"Military is declaring a coup live in state run tv (TRT) now."

"Military declares martial law, curfew announcement on national TV"

Scary stuff. In the U.S., we have the "Oath Keepers", which are supposed to uphold their oath and stop foreign AND domestic threats to our liberty. Basically, if we get a president that turns dictator and starts things like firing on civilian populations here, the Oath Keepers are supposed to take over law enforcement and military from within. The idea being to stall the tragedy and allow time for citizens to unite and hold their ground. I don't know if it would work, but it is in place. I do not know if this Turkish military's reasons are wholesome or not because I admittedly do not know much about Turkish politics. Just 6 months ago I was debating joining the forces and trying to get station in Turkey like my dad was. I wonder what this new military is doing to/for U.S. soldiers in the country.

the Turks arguably have the most secular government in the Islamic world, but they have had problems balancing parliamentary democracy and a strong military ever since establishing their republic following the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire in World War I (they can thank Lawrence of Arabia). The trouble is that their revolution was driven by a segment of the Ottoman officer class.... I could go on. I am not surprised by this coup d'état one bit. I just don't know what the military's goals are yet. Nor am I sure if tis the entire military or just hardline segments of the military. The next week should explain everything as the violence plays out. Hopefully its nothing to do with religious issues. We just don't need more of that over in the middle east, especially with Turkey having a foothold ine astern Europe.... and more importantly I hope the violence dies down so our Turkish friends aren't being gunned down en-mass.

If Turkey ends up falling into a jihad and waging war on Europe, it would become WW3. Religiously minded, I would think they would attack Israel first.

although the Turks do not have a historic antipathy towards the Jews like the Arab states.... in fact they are more traditionally anti-arab
