Cannot add an additional artist with the same (common) name as another?

I was going to add Pulp guitarist Mark Webber from the UK, who has played with the group since 1995) but ran into a stumbling block when another guitarist of the same name from the US who is in a band with actor Michael Cera prevented me from doing so. Even though there are separate Music Brainz entries for both to select from, when it comes time to add the Pulp guitarist, I get an error message: “Artist name is already in use or unavailable. [email protected] if you need help.“

I will also add that, one obvious work around would be to add their middle names (Andrew for the UK Mark Webber, Allen for the US Mark Webber) but my proposed edits to the way their names appear on Music Brainz are awaiting peer review in their queue.

I’m also not sure whether a change to the existing US Mark Webber would automatically apply the name change to Equipboard’s entry. There is no option to add a middle name or modify the name on Equipboard directly

Thanks Michael! I just tried again. I searched the name Mark Webber, selected the appropriate option from the list that referred to the UK Pulp guitarist. Populated a couple bits of information like his Instagram account but then when it comes time to submit I still got the “Artist name is already in use or unavailable” error.
