chapman guitars?

This company have been getting quite a significant amount of press in the last few years, in part due to their "collaborative design" designing scheme, in which a lot of guitar players collectively design a lot of the guitars that eventually get released by the company (what woods, pickups, bridge systems etc to use) through mediums such as youtube comments. They have also gotten praise for their high quality guitars at an affordable price (in part because they don't pay a third party distributor).

However, these guitars still seem to divide quite a lot of people (I don't really mind them myself). I'm basically interested to see what the people on Equipboard think.

I don't know who Rabea Massaad is but I dig this the ML-1 BEA http://www.chapmanguitars.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/ml1bea.jpg

I don't like the Natural Mahogany finishes, looks too much like a piece of furniture :P

Rabea Massaad is the guitarist from Dorje, Rob's band. They are currently recording their first album. Here's their "hit":https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkJrBBD3xpE

Rob Chapman's guitars have been getting some decent professional reviews - for example: http://performermag.com/the-best-value-guitar-of-2014-chapman-guitars-ml1/ http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/chapman-ml-2-578678

My go to music store is Andertons in Guildford, England. They carry the whole line, Rob being fast friends with the co- owner Lee Anderton. (In fact, it might be a co-venture!) this is not a great surprise.

They are essentially, quality Korean built instruments. This is all good, but Rob's biggest problem gaining momentum in my humble opinion is that his higher priced stuff intrudes on the Korean made branch of a certain birds on the fretboard guitar manufacturer that we're all familiar with.

I like Teles and I rather like his signature ML3 T-type, the ingredients on which look top notch - but at the same price as a PRS SE Tremonti custom....
