Danelectro!

So, after some 7 years of playing, I decided that I am getting myself a Danelectro. Specifically, the blue DE59M NOS+. I have absolutely no idea what do those markings mean. I have been in Thomann (for you American cats, I think that's one of the biggest music shops in Europe) and I liked it more than I liked Gretsches, Fenders, Music Mans, Taylors...basically anything.

You Danelectro owners/used-to-be-owners, is there anything I should check on when buying a Dano?

Thanks! KK

make sure its actually made of formica, that's the true dano sound! ajunk guitar made from a kithen counter. Be prepared to replace the stock lipsticks with aftermarkets. That is all. The mdoern chinese danos aren't really built any worse than the original Neptune NJ made ones. Personally I would sooner buy an original one or a 90s Korean reissue. In fact I had some original ones. If you get a winner they have a certain soemthing....most need to be renecked LOL

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Thank you, Jim! I got it now, and I have to wait about a week to plug it into the amp as it is in my college dorm. One thing I noticed is that those things come with extremely low action. Otherwise, I didn't even noticed that it is hollow - this means that they are very loud without amplifiers. I love it so far!

I'm glad to ehar you dig the dano sound. They're really unique.
