How long do artist submissions take?

I recently submitted certain artists who were not on Musicbrainz.com, so they needed me to send a message to the mods to get it approved. How long does it take for the mods to review these submissions?

That's a great question.

Despite what the website might say, moderators only have the ability to see artists that have been requested, not approve them... at least the Approve button has never worked for me. Approvals are something the admins/owners review in their very limited free time.

Just to set expectations, I think only one or two of the Add Artists requests I've made here have ever been approved.

Well that sucks. The artists I've submitted were part of a band, and could definitely benefit from being on here.

Bumping this thread to say I'm also having this issue. I have been trying to add the members of Sprain to the database, but there's very little I can do until the artist request forms are approved. Sprain are a notable band in experimental music circles, but the vocalist is the only one that has a page on musicbrainz. It's very strange that only admins are able to approve artist requests.

Alright, it turns out the best solution for this is to just add the artist to MusicBrainz and then add the artist using that page as normal.
