Internet colaboration?

Would anyone be interested in working on a song with me through dropbox? I finished something I am really feeling good about today. Wrote it on guitar and piano, but it won't be intereting if I just do a straight up pop/rock thing with it. It would benefit from other ideas and maybe a real singer who can help with lyrics.... not sure if I want live drums yet. Anyone down to work with me over the web? I would love to get a veritable horde of EB guys working on this and make it a whole EB project....

(the entire site is founded on the mission you describe)

or if you want to make it an EB thing, that's cool, I am on T.O.N. so clearly I'm game for collabs

iiiiiinteresting! I am doing a scrappy guitar and voice demo right now and I'll take it from there... thank god for time off where I don't have to be a dad... I could sue less of it, but doing without would kill my creativity, toddlers and songwriting are weird combination

by the way, you look exactly how I expected you to in that TON user pic

EDIT: fudging together a 2nd verse worth of scratch lyrics.... I'll post her here and see what kidna response I get before doing TON. There are so many disparate people on EB and we all kinda know eachother so it might be entertaining to rope some folks into doing this even if we use TON as the medium to swap tracks....

Do you write decent lyrics? I find it to be a struggle to even get to a rough draft... I am stuck right now. ugh.

I wish I could do this, but alas, I am but a 19 year old college studdent with nothing but a cheap Squier Tele, a Fender practise amp, some OK pedals, and two-and-one-half years of guitar playing under my belt.

One day...

Also, damn, most people are a lot older than I expected. Jim's a dad, Nick looks to be in his early 30's, I'm sure the admins are college graduates since they made this site so well, and I'm a college freshy... Better keep practising.

yup, keep practicing... maybe next time

I totally don't have vocals on the guitar demo yet. Failed in that goal completely. Stalled in the 2nd verse.... you could help finish the lyrics though. That's major contribution. here's what I got so far:

Are you tired of

fighting for the sun,

that you never knew you missed,

until your trials had begun?

When you take a breath,

do you take the time,

to remember all

the incidents and evidence of why

you got all the blame

for this circus of deceit,

though you want to be the ring master

the bear's still got to eat.

Already getting late to choose.

You stuck the needle in-

to the camel's eye

and you took this beast for-granted

as you stacked the straws up high.

Now these metaphors

(and here's where I get sketchy)

make my well run dry....

stuck!!!!!!

And i'm 35 years young, thank you. You're just really young in life experience. Oh the shenanigans i got up to at your age.

But seriously. If you have the facility to record or to write a few lyrics or dicker with a song structure anything, literally any contribution could be valid in context. Or not, but if you blow it off due to less gear than you wish you had or a feeling of inadequate skills even though you really would like to do it?! we will never know. I have always believed that if you feel like doing something you should try to do it as long as you aren't hurting anybody. Worst thing that happens is you fall on your face and feel embarrassed. You get over it and you gain life experience. Next time it might go better. You wanna work on a song with me on the web? Go for it. Worst case scenario i don't yse any ofyour ideas.

This is what happens when i boycott as ocial life, but its hard to fit in being a responsible dad, making music and trying to have a good time. Ya always drop the ball somewhere.

I'd totally be into doing some sort of pop or electronic arrangement once you have a basic layout with temp vox. Doesn't have to necessarily be completely electronic sounding. Think of some of the Marron 5 stuff.

I was thinking something less disco (a little Maroon 5 goes a long way, a very long way), when I post the acoustic guitar demo in a sec you'll get why its not maroon 5 suitable. Its ballady and needs to be rocked up and synthed up. Scratch guitar line needs to be a piano line too.... or electric piano. I have something else in mind for electric guitar.

not set on the structure, but the components are there harmonically and melodically... lyrics need work.... bad singing, but I basically hit the notes

anyone want to play this on piano as a core track to hold it down then we can get making with the guitars and synths and.... well, you get it.

OK, I'm typing from my phone so Incan't really move much plus, it's the day after New Year, so my family wants to go to iHop.

What I wanted to say was I may write lyics and make a few critiques, but I cannot record anything. I do have this old Shure mic... PE66L. It's Shure, that's for sure. No cable to connect it to and I haen't the first clue on how to record.

Anyways, I haen't any need to. I'll be back later.

I didn't necessarily mean their dance stuff. They have some more ballad-y style songs. In any case, it sounds pretty good, although maybe we could go with some different chords (particularly in the beginning) since the ones you went with sound pretty dark. Also, are the words ''Already getting late to choose'' and then those chords the entirety of the chorus? It feels like it needs a bit more...

I don't play the piano, but if you send me a MIDI file with the chords you want I can try to program the piano manually.

I can do that... or play the piano like a robot because I am not as expressive as a pianist as a guitarist... you may be on synth duty if you like the tune

Sounds good. I can't do anything until Sunday though. Maybe try to work on some other aspects until then. Chords, harmonies, composition.

that's more ambitious than my timetable, LOL

Haha, yeah. I guess I just don't like to have people waiting until I get something done.

I started this tune last March if my original notes and rough ideas demo recording are dated correctly, so it can take as long as it takes. It only tightened up and got better with time. Forgot about it until a melodic tweak that dictated another chord change variation popped into my head on Tuesday while I was vacuuming....
