Merging duplicate gear

I note a lot of duplicate gear. How could I merge them while not losing the references and attributes (artists, users, scores...)?

Yes, think of it as a notification for the moderators to deal with later. It's not meant to destroy items. See, if it were, then I would have razed have this site to the ground. Nothing but deleted duplicates and lovely Stratocaster variations as they were meant to be.
