Promoting Music
Ironic, because on Sunday, I launched this little idea I had. We were gonna take beginner producers and basically mentor them as they took their first steps in their DAW, then our intermediate and advanced users could build up a community and get promoted on our soundcloud/twitter/facebook/google plus/webpage. Which seems like exactly what you were talking about. Its all skype based so we could be more connected. We already have 19 producers that are with us at the moment. A variety of beginner/intermediate/advanced/expert producers are part of it. Since we launched this not even a week ago, were of course still accepting people. All you have to do is fill out this application, then we'll review your music and put you in our group to chat with other musicians that have a similar skill to you. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1OayRgw8p3Bkm14M2_5VFATJl4muNfK_lUiPlmEJTJhY/viewform
Haha experience. Id hardly call it an experience. However...What we could do is I could have a special soundcloud page. Kinda like how Spinnin Records owns Spinnin Deep. We could have something like that too. Upgraded Promotions/UP (My project) and whatever youd call your project. Then Equipboard has their own soundcloud page, and then they have UP promoting them too. Does that sound good? Or perhaps you could counter.
Just to make sure this is clear, I wouldnt be in charge or own your thing, but being under my name, youd grow with us. And it would help EquipBoard grow as well.
Exactly. Sounds good. :D If anybody wants to contact me about this, hit me up at either [email protected] or [email protected]. Im interested to see if this actually happens, and how well it would work. Totally down for this.
I figured we'd join in on your soundcloud group. Just added the "Media Robots" Continuous Mix EP by DeFeX of Chill Productions to the group, which is also a free download. Enjoy!
Oh, and about the top producers getting videos that was suggested: Payola (pay for plays) rules the day in the music business these days, from soundcloud to pandora / spotify and even iTunes. If you're going to rate the videos do NOT go by the amount of plays on track. You'll need a forum here to coincide with the soundcloud group where people on this site can rate the music. This is the only way to keep this practice fair for everyone, else the people who refuse to use Payola services (Like Chill Productions!) will never have a chance.
