The film goes on to say that they were fixing to get divorced and they had a prenuptial agreement that would have left her with a very small settlement. 9 days before his death, Kurt was in rehab in LA. He allowed visits from his daughter and the nanny, but not Courtney. She ended up calling the rehab 13 times looking to speak with him and she was denied per his request. The last time he was seen was when he left LA and visited his friend and his friend's girlfriend, Cali was his name? Well, when Kurt left Cali's house, Cali called Courtney and told her about the visit. Courtney called Cali 8 or so times that day. The very next day, she hired her own private investigator and told HIM that the last anyone saw him was 4 days prior to the Cali visit.
Some of the most damning evidence is all the physical evidence at the crime scene. The shotgun shell flew out of an automatic shotgun, a Remington M11, while the gun was upside down. The shell would have shot to Kurt's right, but it was found on the left of the room. Forensics said it would be possible to bounce off an object and land where it did if an object was about 2 feet off the ground and to Kurt's right. The crime scene photos show there was NOTHING to his right but empty floor and about 15 ft of bare floor before the wall. Magic.
When the investigator starting asking Courtney hard questions, on audiotape, she started to trip up and get answers wrong. He asked her why she didn't tell him Kurt was seen and she was notified 1 day before his hire. She played dumb. He said to call Cali over so he can ask him about that last time. Courtney snuck Cali up stairs as soon as he was there, got him wasted on Heroin, and THEN brought him down stairs for the interview. Cali couldn't speak full sentences he was so wasted. Courtney just watched from across the room during the interview.
I'm telling you, this film really makes her look guilty. If it were all hear-say from all the people who were there at the time, it MIGHT be different, but a lot of this is recorded on audio tape and has Courtney saying all the stuff herself. Even the "suicide letter" sounds fake. It shows two sets of handwriting and the second set says stereotypical suicide stuff. "Shell be better of without me alive, yada yada". On audio, the private eye looks under the mattress and pillows of the family bed and finds a bottle of Rufees. A day or so after, Courtney says she found a yellow envelope with a suicide note in it to her that she said she found under the pillows. The detective, who did this all on recording and with a witness, said he searched the whole bed and only found the pills. Courtney just kept saying "No, it was just right there under my pillow".
