the band the beaches issue

There seems to be a mess concerning the band the beaches. their entry seems to be like a singular person, but even if I try to add the bassist, I get the message the artist already exists, despite no result turning up. can someone clear that up, why can't I add the singular artist that does not yet exist?

I think that at the times, artists and groups were considered as a single entity, then they created groups and artists, but so every group are now considered as a single artist.
I don't know if there is a fix to that, but I have some groups too that are considered artists

thx. possible. the status is, that the bassist can't be added due to message it already exists despite not appearing in searches, the keyboarder can't be added due the band having artist status and the band can't be added due to message an artist exists. argh.

These come up every now and then. It's a situation that can only be fixed by the site owners, but I don't personally know of any situations where one of these "should be a Band, not an Artist" situations has been corrected in recent times.

I'll start a thread internally to see if we can get any movement on this... but it'll likely be a long while before anything happens.
