Would love to differentiate the equipment I used to own versus what I have now...

Hey, I love that the category's have finally been made available to us regular joes... But I would love it if I could also distinguish between what I've had and what I have. I don't want to lose the fact that I used to own a piece of gear, but it should would be nice to be able to show just what I am using now. Specifically, if I am looking at Amps, I would love it if I could select: "All", "Current", or "Archive". Or some other similar verbiage. Is this functionality on the roadmap at all?

often requested, yet to be delivered

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Who's in charge of "delivering" these types of changes? I would like to see this implemented as well.

  • Squier Bass VI Vintage Modified

why, do you want to track down my friends and threaten them at gun point to get a move on? The admins founded the site and write the code, the specific upgrade guy is GChiarren. look, the coding takes time... bug detectiont akes time... and we all have day jobs and kids. This is an unpaid labor of love that fortunately breaks even.

I think everyone understands that it takes time. But I've been up here going on two years, and this has been a highly requested feature since well before that (which your initial response, as well as many older threads confirm). So I think patience is not the issue.

But I know that just reviving a zombie thread to ask for the same thing is an easy way to get ignored. So I started a new thread to be a squeeky wheel, and hope that others would jump in a squeek too... Mostly because we have NO IDEA (seemingly on purpose) what is in the pipeline.

In short, what I think is missing is any kind of "feature tracker" or simple periodic updates from the admins, which would not have to promise any ETA, but would go a long way to helping us regular folk understand what is or is not on the horizon. Maybe a sticky? Maybe a blog type post on the front page? I dunno. But without a predefined mechanism for submitting/tracking ideas or requests, how can you be surprised/irritated when folks wonder who the person(s) is behind the curtains???

Was about to post this after not being here for awhile...how coincidental

y'know what? I haven't actually talked to Michael or Chiaren for ages... with x-mas and all this other stuff in my life I haven't even had time to do another gear review. Or i haven't ahd the atttention span. So maybe you cats have a point. 2 years just doesn't feel like a long time to me, but my brain is warped by parenting.

C'mon, 2 years on the internet might as well be eons... Just a blurb with a semi-prioritized list of upcoming goodies, even without firm ETAs, would keep me going at this point.

While we are at it, who designates the categories? Seems like a few basic ones are missing. For example, I would like one for "Live Sound" (or "PA System"?). And evidently no specific category for synth/keys either? Now that is whack!

dude, how often do you even come on this forum? pot, kettle,black... and I just agreed with you a month ago, why are you flaming me?

Wow. You think that was a flame? I really think the developers need to reconsider who they have agreed to let represent them on these forums. Your unprofessional and inappropriate remarks have become pretty intolerable.

First off, it's not an "unpaid labor or love" if it "breaks even". Pretty idiotic to even say something that stupid.

Second, just because someone wants to know who the developers are doesnt mean they want to "track down your friends and threaten them at gunpoint". SHEEESH!

The reason I come up to equipboard less and less is because it is STAGNANT. And smart-alec self-important assholes that provide no value beyond lame excuses doesn't help, it rather exacerbates the problem. Do you think anyone new is going to come into this forum, read a thread like this one, and not want to run away if they know any question they ask is likely to get a snarky or downright insulting response from you?

I am a customer, not a developer or owner of the site. I've even tried to be a participating member, adding value and content. I frequent and participate in sites that I enjoy. Equipboard no longer enjoys that distinction. You won't have to worry about this "kettle" anymore.

I've only been here a few months and unfortunately see everything azfatboy is referring to. I love the concept, but the execution is unfortunately lagging further and further behind. As I tried to suggest on another thread, we get that you all have lives. Let us help! Maybe most of us can't code, but the community should be able to assist with lesser tasks. There is no need to take any of this as an attack towards a person or team, we want this site to succeed and are ultimately on the same side. Please be aware of that.

well, I did agree with the guy that things had gotten pretty long in the tooth... he's just an argumentative guy who only came on here to say he could be a better site admin (entirely possible) and then wanted to stay mad when I stuck up for the founders even once he talked me around. At any rate, the first small update's rolled out... more to come. Hopefully we'll see the "used to own" category soon but I guess Azfatboy won't be here. Oh well.

And if dolphins are so great why don't they live in igloos?

For the record I'm not a professional at anything to do with equipboard. I'm not even a professional musician or recording engineer anymore. I never claimed to be anything but a regular dude who loves music and gear... and who likes the guys who founded the site. We're not really 'friends' they're from Texas and I've never even gone down there to see them. I just stick up for guys who put their blood into a non-profit enterprise for the enjoyment of others... I have a lot of respect for people who have a cool idea and then take the trouble to see it through as far as Gchiaren and Michael have. It easier to throw stones then to build a house out of them. But I was willing to admit when Azfat had a point and the dude just kept going at me. Politely, but like I never recanted. Sorry, that's flaming, when you won't let it go. Reminds me of my wife. Then he took his ball and went home. Okay! See ya dude and thanks for the redundant suggestion (gear I 'used to own' has been around as an idea here for years, but the demand is actually pretty low from the wider user base).

anyway here's the easy update that's been mentioned by a lot of people, go crazy with yer pics:
