35 Syndrome

I have a theory that as soon as you hit 35 you can no longer handle heavy music. I know very few over 35 year olds that can.

Today, in the car, my parents put on some of my smashing pumpkins stuff. By track 4 their "Ears were hurting".

I only have 22 years left. Help!

I know a few people who are into heavy metal, thrash etc but can't listen to smashing pumpkins for long because of how Billy Corgan sings. They're the same with Placebo etc too

Man, you look to young to have two kids.

Haha, you better believe it haha. I'm 20, engaged and in the process of getting into uni so I can finally become a doctor

smashing pumpkins are not that heavy, so says this 35 year old

That's what I thought. I'll say 36 for your sake, with a few exceptions.

By zero, you should have seen my Mum. It was a combination of the intensity of it all, and Billy's cocked-wah, nasality that did it though.

to be fair, I tend to listen to mellower music since I turned 30, but I don't dislike the heavy music of my youth and still put it on sometimes... I'll check in next year at 36 and let you know if I can still deal with the Pumpkins and Soundgarden

that's my weak point with the pumpkins for sure, BC's voice.... its cool at first but grating by the end of an album.... when I saw them at the Spectrum here in Philly on the MCIS tour in '96 (or was it earlier? I am getting old) his voice was incredibly piercing through the PA bouncing around that giant Basketball stadium. I actually put earplugs in before going on the floor to join the pit.
