CITES

anyone read up on the new CITES regulation which will choke the import and export of rosewood including any guitar made after 1947 that had rosewood

i feel this is a bit extreme because even as a private seller you would need a, i believe, 75 dollar CITES certificate to ship to Canada or Mexico

i understand this law because the Chinese gutted rosewood forests but this also will apply to Cocobolo and Brazilian rosewood. I feel this is an unfair handicap to companies like Gibson or Fender, who was using sustainable Indian rosewood plantations/arbors which are now being bought up by Chinese guitar makers, couldn't the rainforest association or CITES just put a cap on Chinese importing and buying of rosewood

buy vintage, stay within your national borders? new guitars mostly suck anyway... a shame for Gibson custom

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

this messes me up tho because one if the 4 guitars im thinking about getting next id have to import from a euro dealer

the 60's classic series tele, 60's classic series jazzmaster and cabronita telecaster are all good just tough to find used for a good price but the 62 mij tele reissue isnt on the us market(yet at least)

just buy a a used fender mexi... gaaawd, used guitars are predisastered.

ya dangus!

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

i was planning on b lying used for all but the 62 because its not on us markets, the 60's tele runs around 600, jazzmaster runs around 7-900 and the carbonate runs 500-1000 depending on the color, and whether its thin line or not because its discontinued and most people either loved or hated it

GEAR:

lol your making me realize how pointless it is to import just for body binding

get a guitar you play well that sounds good!

you crazy kids!

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

i never really looked into specs its almost the same as the 60's and i feel I'm one of the few people who thinks mim fenders arent the best fenders

I ow 2 MIMs and a vintage series American parts tele... no difference. what makes the parts tele great is the custom bridge and pickups and its still apples and apples

one ofmy best friends owns a top shelf custom shop tele which is maybe 100 to 200 bucks nicer than my DITY and maybe 300 bucks nicer than my modded mexi esquire

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

fenders classic series line from the mex factory to me are better than the american standards

the nicest tele i played was a 52 avri, but for 2000 dollars i could get a mex and sound just as good, people always dog mexican fenders but they have really stepped up their game and with the money you save you can do what every mods you want to it if its still not perfect

and yet? the snobbery!

I own guitars in so many price and quality rackets and Ikeep them beause they all have uses. Are you a podiatrist tone snob or a creator of music?

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

too true, especially the people riding Japanese fenders, they are nice but they aren't as good as people claim when compared to current mia and mim's

Jap fender is built on the rep of the JV and A serials which are world class guitars.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

i really, really, really, really want to start making my own guitars.

I do for fender style. I will never buy another bolt...

Since Boom isn't present, I'll just borrow one of his responses for the time being. He actually has some bunny shaped guitar image that I can't find right now.

.... maybe sneak a peek!
