compressor as boost

I am interested in having a boost pedal for my setup, mostly for a lead sound that I can have to cut trhough the mix. I have an xotic SP compressor, would you reccomend getting a boost like an EP or one with an active EQ or what are your thoughts on using a compressor as a boost? I'm thinking maybe a nice mid boost would cut through better but I've also heard that compressors can help you cut through. Any thoughts appreciated

Try a clean boost with focus on the mids. A Klon-style pedal with the gain turned down will do the trick. I recommend the RYRA Klone. Compressors can provide boost, but don't have the same cut.
