Hello everybody! Can you suggest a pedal that would be as similar in sound as possible to the Roland Space Echo RE-201!

nah, I thik eventide had the 1st digital delay unit before I was even born.... maybe 72ish?

I've got a bunch of lexicons, later ones, not the creme de la creme.... I also always have a yamaha spx90 or 2 around because, well, they're awesome at lots of random stuff. I've got an old tapco stereo spring and I'm trying to talk myself out of buying a new plate, there are these guys making a really nice 'small-ish', stereo plate setup.... but its like 3k to preorder one

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

look at this monster....

Think it was the Lexicon I was checking out. Early ‘80s. I ended up getting a Boss DD-2 not long after. Still have it.

I googled eventide digital delay 1972 and got this:

they were there 1st, then i think it was AMS and Bel in the UK, Lexicon was in there too but was leading the pack in algorithmic reverb

The TC Electronic Alter Ego 4X has a Space Echo RE-201 emulator that (to my ears) is a pretty faithful rendition of the original. In fact for vintage delay, the alter Ego has a lot of space to play across several classic analogue and digital settings.

GEAR:
  • Gibson ES-355 Electric Guitar
  • Yamaha AEX1500
  • Roland JC-40 Jazz Chorus

I dig on the RE-20. Boss bills it as the RE-201 reborn. Personally, I've not use the RE-201, so I can't vouch for just how accurate it is, but I do know the RE-20 is a darn nice piece of kit.

That said, the best damn tape echo I've ever used is the Evans Super Echo EE-6. And I'm STILL trying to track one of those down, guitarist I knew played one, and gods above, below, and to my left, I need one.

GEAR:
  • Vox V241 Bulldog
  • Kay KDG 70
  • Lotus/Morris L-400 Falcon Guitar

So i was doing a mix using mine the last couple nights spreading a mono guitar out across my stereo field.... don't even bother trying to replicate this. It literally ate every other processor in the mix for breakfast to the point I want to buy another one for stereo

I'm going to solo this guitar cut and post it up here and bring the sre555 in and out because hearingwill straighten you out and make you start a patreon to fund a legit real tape echo/chorus/reverb

being a middle aged dude is great in one regard, I got all this shit for peaNUTS

that is all
