Is the Yamaha RGX420DZ an alright guitar?

An Yamaha RGX420DZ has popped up locally for £50. It has a Floyd Rose trem, unsure if it's a licensed one or a really cheap Chinese one. Just wondering whether these were decent guitars at all as I'm very tempted, does need a good clean and strings and a set up but I like the look of it and wondering if I'm gunna get on with it in terms of playability

For two tanks of petrol, I'd tag it and bag it anyroad, good or bad--it'd make for a great modding platform, learn how to work on an axe, a junker to throw in the back seat and not worry about getting banged up on a weekend out with the mates... I picked up a Lyon by Washburn Strat copy some 15-16 years ago for about that, it's still going strong, has been my backup guitar at many gigs, first guitar I ever put a killswitch on.

Seriously, for 50 quid, I'd jump all over it, with almost no exception (Maestro and First Act... those arenae even worth smashing for firewood).

Course, others may disagree with me, but that's my 2p worth on it. Get it, mod it, learn to work on guitars with it. Worst case, you're out two tanks of petrol, or a fairly nice night on the town with your partner--which, I mean, it's the 'rona time, that's not really happening any time soon--so yeah. Snag it, grab a toolkit from StewMac, AmazonSmile, or wherever (if you're going to use Amazon, use AmazonSmile), and learn on it.

That's what I'm thinking, stick a real Floyd rose on it and a SD distortion mayhem set in too if it plays well. My main concern is how playable they were when they were new. Don't wanna buy something I'm never gunna get to play well. I'm used to modding guitars and working on them myself (none of my guitars are standard) it's about a 15 mile drive, 30 Mike round trip so £10 or so in fuel depending on how much my Lexus wants to drink on that given day 😂 think I'll drop them a message and see if I can get it abit cheaper if I throw in my tube screamer clone as I don't really like it much, don't get on with it as well as I did the black Star boost it replaced

Put it this way, just found one sold on reverb for £300, and from all the reviews I'm reading about 'em, they're a pretty solid little player. Shouldn't take any time at all to get it set up and playing the way you want it--should have a much easier time with it than I did with the Lyon, that's for damn sure! Even pulled a few clips off the YouTubes, they sound pretty decent as well. Trem looks solid, even if it's just a knock-off FR. All in all, if you're getting it for £50, you may want to check for the boaby, as it looks to me like you're going to be doin' a robbery! :D

£300 they are going for? Think I best go for it then. I've sent him a message to see if it's available still as was only listed today. I'm gunna take a look at some videos of them and get some ideas if what I would like to do to it! It's is further away than I initially thought but it's a good excuse to get out of the house for an hour or two!
