Question On Tremolo Systems

I'm a big fan/user of Super-Heavy Guitar Strings (around 12-60 gauge), and I was wondering, is there anyway to setup a Tremolo System (like on your typical Strat) to use such heavy strings without having the bridge rising up a ton aswell as still having the Tremolo functional?

Anybody got any suggestions or ideas?

Edit: I know detuning to put less tension on the Tremolo would work but I'm looking to play in Standard tuning.

GEAR:
  • Washburn T-24 Taurus Bass

  • Epiphone Les Paul Custom Pro Koa - Limited Edition

SRV did this, look it up, his tech ahs written articles about this shit over the years

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Thanks, I'll be sure to look this up! Do you know what brand/gauge of strings he used?

I use 12-54 on my strat in standard tuning with 4 springs and tighten the hook up until it "floats". My main issue with heavy strings is getting the right amount of relief rather than setting up the tremolo though

Another question:

How does a Maestro Vibrola work and are they any good?

Okay, finally getting to the SRV thing, I found that he used 13-60 and later 11-58 gauge strings, can you give me a link to an article or video to this in formation?

They claim his main setup was .013 – .015 – .019p – .028 – .038 – .058
