Quick Question On Acoustic Strap Buttons

3 spot on the shoulder

I was thinking about it, then realised there's a battery compartment right there on #3.

Edit: I think I broke Equipboard with that pound symbol.

find out exactly how many pieces the neck is and locate the seems if its multiple pieces and pick a spot where the screw won't touch them

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

OK, I give up. I feel really stupid for asking, but how do I find this information? I know the neck is laminated, so does that mean it's been layered by multiple pieces?

there's a veneer on the outside that looks like one piece of wood and under it they coulda glued all manner of pieces together with whatever haphazard glue joints they needed to utilize every last scrap of wood left over at the factory from the real guitars.... I wouldn't drill into that clusterfuck of modern 'craftsmanship' for any amount of money... glue joints are stronger than wood unless you pierce them.... curved chunks of laminated veneer does not like to be disrupted either

Probably cost you 30 bucks at a Guitar Center. I'd offer a Luthier 15 bucks.

You bargain? Please, do tell, I've only heard of the concept several times over and it strikes me as strange that people do that in America where it seems the idea is impossible and that everything's fixed by retail price and such (discluding sales).

You should always try to bargain/haggle. It's not Wal-Mart, it's a luthier. A handshake, some confidence, and a good conversation can go a long way. Pricing the job over the phone through multiple stores is a good idea before going in.

I don't know why I actually came back here, but I did anyways. Just wanted to thank you guys for the information and stuff, and that's it. I'd post pics, but I'm not up to doing it right now.

Anyways, the guitar survived its surgery and it has its strap button snug on the curve of the neck. Feels great to have it there. A bit difficult to put the strap on, but not as back as trying to put it on that piece of crap headstock strap thing.
