String Gauges for C G C F A D

What String should I use? My 50-11s I have dont feel meaty enough for it. I'm used to using them for E standard though which may be why

How would 13-62s hold up? or maybe even 14-68s. I do plan on leaving it in D drop C or whatever this tuning is called

Try 13s on 25.5" scale and 14s on 24.75". Or why don't you google search what mastodon uses? Bill Kelleher is always tuning stable, drop tunes gibsons and has huge powerful hands. If you are trying it on fender scale you could just go down a gauge from Kelleher to get the tension feeling right on the longer scale with the brutal 45 degree break angle on fender bridges.

GEAR:
  • Roland Juno-6
  • Gibson SG Standard
  • Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amp

Don't really listen to them so never occurred to me. I'll ordered both 13s and 14s and see what feel best on either my Ibanez lp copy or the Epiphone which will be back together in a week or two :D just need pots, a switchcraft jack and some Gibson speed knobs because the Epi knobs don't fit cts pots. I found that 10-46 feel the same as 11-50 on a strat tension wise. So I will try this when I buy new strings in a few weeks (no point cutting good strings)

neither do I but I am aware of them and their ways through a friend...

I really don't voluntarily listen to many extremely downtuned bands. Not to into it apart from the originators, Kyuss.

Me either apart from Machine Head and System Of A Down. I just was playing soad songs and thought I'd leave a guitar in that tuning because its pretty fun to mess around with and do a few covers etc in that tuning every now and again
