Truss rod

how do I adjust it? I gave it a quarter turn two days ago and let sit overnight but can't tell a difference. did it again another quarter turn and no difference again. neck has two much relief. saddles are touching the tremolo plate and still way too high action. Want to straighten the neck out. turning clockwise is the right way right?

a quarter turn is negligible... once it resettles overnight you very well may not notice a difference. yes, clockwise is right

Thats what I thought too but everyone said don't turn any more than that but its literally doing nothing. I'll try giving it a half turn before bed then. Cheers

on the subject of truss rod how does a double action truss rod work in comparison to a normal one? My Epi has a double action my other guitars have normal ones

go to warmoth.com, I believe they summarize different truss types than I ever could... lots of good info on that site in general

who's everybody? if the neck is still bowed then the truss is still too loose for the string gauge on the guitar. PERIOD so try a half turn and see where it gets you... if the relief is easily visible to the naked eye you elt this go awhile and it may take a full turn or more, but I would go icnrememntally over the course of a week. Start with the half turn, then move in quarters until its where you think its right... every otehr night before bed.

Ill take a look and only put guitar together after a year of being in bits so may have veen bad for a while and everyone as in google searches and guitar

google is assuming you're tweaking a guitar that's just slightly off because tis been set-up recently and that a change in the weather is responible for a slight bowing

Makes sense. Ive adjusted it again and just waiting now. Weather could have caused it but never affected it in last few years but has been very wet since September, lot of storms this year

generally I do a quarter turn one way or another about twice a year based on the humidity... if you haven't adjusted it for eyars there's probably a cumualtive effect and that's why you need more drastic adjustment. You probably didn't notice it until recently and you were just tweaking your intonation around relief you couldn't feel yet. Once you can really feel it and your action is screwy you probably waited to long and its gone beyond seasonal maintenace... so more turning. Be slow, methodical and careful. If you hear weird noises at any point STOP

Neck is perfect again but did snap a string by being lazy and forcing it out of the way with allen key. All good now though. Get new strings when i can be asked
