**Ultra-Deep, Ultra-Bassy, Ultra-Present, Ultra High Gain Amp for Melo death, funeral doom, DSBM and Djent**

Hi all, I'm relatively new here. My name is Juniper and I'm looking to get established in the metal scene. So I'm looking for an amp: 100-500 watts. I really really like dark amps. For me any amp is only usable with the sub-bass, bass, low-mids, depth and presence cranked and even then it's not enough often. Some amps i'm considering are the Bogner Uberschall, Diezel Vh4, Verellen Meatsmoke, Sunn model T, Sovtek Mig-100, Fender 5e3 Tweed, and Ampeg Vt-40. Basically I want to know which is the most extremely dark, extremely bassy and extremely present. I'm looking for like a Funeralopolis, Dopesmoker, Mt abraxas, Green Machine, Mexicola type tone, but slightly more gated and controlled in it's sustain. I know a lot of that is pedals and i have an Acapulco gold, Ds-1, Fuzz factory, and sound wave breakdown for that but I still need an uber-dark clean tone anyways. FYI i'm using a HSS Squier II MIK strat, and a Les paul gold top 50's special 2016. So you can get an idea of the base guitar tone, tho i will be swapping out the base pickups for Bare knuckle silencer for the single coil, and warpigs for the humbcukers. The les paul is tuned between E standard and Drop C depending on mood with 10-60 and the Strat is tuned depending on mood to C standard to A standard with 12-80. i use 3mm picks too. I'm also probably gonna get a vintage modified baritone jazzmaster and tune it to Drop E or as low as Double Drop A. Given this info do you have any recs for me? Also sorry i messed up the thread formatting, I'm new to markdown.

the 5E3 and all tis relatives are anything but those things

the ampeg V series is a bitch to maintain and the vt40 has to be modded for a different PI tube as russian 7199s suck and NOS are non existent now.... they are excelent amplifiers, partiularly the pre-master versions

consider a traynor too, any 50 watt+ model, old ones, new ones are built like shit and aren't what you want really

hiwatt, matamp era orange, also good ideas.... pricey

sound city, not as cheap as it used to be and earlier is better, the trouble with later oranges and sound cities? those parmeko transformers, not really reliable, they just LOOK like a partridge

the sunn model T had 2 incarnations and one is badass and one is an amrican plexi more or less, also cool but not what you're looking for stock.... oh and there's a reissue, don't do that

all other large sunns kick ass and bring that huge powerful dynaco transformer thunder

in fender a solid choice is a dual showman head turned up in anger with a 12AX7 in the PI slot over the stock AT7

Thanks dude. I'm not super worried about price as long as it's under 5k which includes most amps. And i need at least 100 watts. what are good bassy, deep, and present amps that fit that description. I really like the general tone of the Diezel VH4 but I need the depth and presence to be cranked. It's a good amp on any setting but for my personal preference it's basically best on max bass, max presence and max depth. i just wish the tone stack on those knobs could go a bit farther than they already do.

I'm probably gonna be using an Emperor cabinets 4x12 or 8x10 for maximum bass, their used by the guitarist from sleep and the guitarist from russian circles so i trust them. I'm debating between the Verellen Meatsmoke and Diezel Vh4 I think are my top two choices. As a doom metal guitarist, a 300 watt amp that's voiced for bass is an awesome proposition, but the vh4 has so much flexibility and the depth and presence maxed is the best sound ever made. So any one with experience in both have any recommendation?

sure.... if you like the VH4 you probably won't get what you want from something vintage, its in that soldano-derived modern gain staging camp, the psot-800 school of design with lots of added triode stages with voltage dividers to ground between and a cold clipping triode taken to extremes ala the SLO (and the rectifier that copied it)

making a high gain amp deep or especially truly scooped is tricky to pull off well especially without it possibly getting lost in a mix for a very specific reason, ltos of RC network high and low pass filters are needed in high gain designs to suppress squeals, harshness and weird low oscillations so you're actually EQing your tone every stage of gain you add

tell the seller to open it and look at the layout, it'll be very bassman derived.... or not as bassman derived.... not is good here.... it might be a good idea to stay away from vintage stuff in this camp if you don't know about electronics, these are pretty complicated amps that need a lot of love now that they're in their twilight years

Oh that makes total sense. I think I’m gonna go with the VH4 and just crank Bass, Prescene and depth, run it through a very bassy cabinet (the Emporer), and then use a 6 or 10 band eq and boost the frick out of the 10-50hz range and then maybe a bass boost like the Dod Meatbox maxed out and then like a Mountainking Megalith on more heavy setting with bass maxed out. That’s my plan. I think it’ll work.

emperor makes a great cabinet for doom and dirge music, hiwatt cabs with the slot style port on the back really kick but are pricey and not all fanes and clones are created equal, particularly for your application which is highly specific. The ampeg V4 cab is excellent, the old one....a marshall tall 4x12 is a good option as well with a speaker change, even an H30 with 55hz cone won't get what you want but the cabinet itself is boomy, even the slant 'reissue' version.
