What string gauges does everyone use?

I love those Tru Bass black nylon Rotos! Used to have them on my Squier Jazz bass, I eventually sold that bass though so don't have those strings on any of my current basses, but will definitely consider them again! And that's pretty smart what you do with the strings... well now I've completely switched to short scale, but wondering now if I could have kept those Tru Bass strings to move to one of my short scales, and just put some regular strings on the J bass before selling it

Definitely! I don't find flats that much darker than rounds, on the bridge pickup they can sound fairly bright... my favourite flats are probably Höfner's contemporary flats (granted, they only come in short scale, and are specifically made for Höfner violin basses or others of a similar scale length). Those are actually so versatile, they can go from being very dark and thumpy on the neck pickup, to very bright on the bridge pickup! Also, 2 of my 3 electric basses are hollow or semi hollow bodies, and I feel flats bring out the character of a hollow body bass much better than rounds

I'm a rotosound guy lately. Not really committed toabrand or gauge on bass since I seldom play it.

Hi, i use 10 52 Ernie ball strings

Oh nice! I just bought a Rotosound 10s string set (this'll be my first time trying Rotos for guitar, but I have had their Tru Bass strings which I really liked). Still deciding whether to put them on the Strat ot the Les Paul!

In other news, I've seen where Ernie Ball came out with Cobalt Flatwounds for guitar, happened a few weeks ago (I missed out on it until now somehow).

Apparently, the higher output from the Cobalt makes them feel like flatwounds, but sound like roundwounds. They only got them in 9-42, 10-46, & 11-48 so far (I'm trying the 11-48s, I'll let you guys know how they turn out...).

For my Jackson dinky 7 I have a 10-54 + 74 for Drop F#. For my Ibanez gio RG7 I have a 10-56 7 string set for Drop A. For my Warmoth strat I either do a 11-52 drop for Drop C# or a 12-62 for Drop B & or Drop A#. For my glarry telecaster copy i use a standard 10-46 set then I use a pitch shifter for an octave down for some of my bands songs. All sets are Ernie Ball strings as well

ernie ball power slinkys on my p bass as that has to stay in c standard, i dont want to put too much tension on and 55-110 seems to be the thinnest i can use for c without it being too floppy and obnoxious.

i dont really play electric guitar much anymore but my sg has a 12s set (i think) its that or 13s maybe... it has a wound g, if i was tuning normal id just use 10s like a normal person. acoustic has the eric clapton set on which i really like so 12-54 on that but i used to like 11-52 rotosound jumbo kings so if i could have the clapton set in 11-52 id probably go for that but sadly it doesnt exist
