Where would you use a ring mod?

I was listening to a few demos last night, of a couple of ring mods, which sounded incredible (Thanks to the brilliant Dennis Kayzer), however I wondered where you would use a ring mod?

Would you ring mod with some fuzz, or would you set it for extra buzz? Would you ring mod at a gig or run the ring mod through a Sovtek Mig? I do not like your ring mod plan, I will not stomp it Sam I Am!

I used one here, sort of (Catalinbread Heliotrope is more than just a ring modulator but basically that's what it does):
