Still useful for pads and atmospheres
Today, after almost 30 years from its release, the JV-880 is still useful. I mainly use it (with the card SR-JV-02 Orchestral) to add thickness to pads and atmospheres. In this role, this gear still excels. It has a dark character that is perfect for this kind of sound.

The purple beast
The JP-8000 is the subtractive performance digital synth in all its glory. All controls at the hands reach, with a fat and luxurious sound. It´s a bass, lead and pad synth - and it excels in all these three fields. Although it has a plastic (purple!!!) case, the JP-8000 is robust. But be prepared to clean periodically (say every 2 years) the faders and knobs - they tend to get dirty and make the JP behavor at his own will. Overall, a great and powerful digital synth.

Still today, a VAST synth
The K-2000 V3 is an extremely advanced piece of gear. VAST can do everything: subctrative synthesis, additive synthesis, FM, it can route everything to everything... a real monster. Very well built. More than 20 years after its release it still can be easily repaired and upgraded (thanks to ebay sellers). When fully expanded, it has internal HD, scsi port, digital outs... A real programmer and performer synth.

The silver beast.
It´s 20 years old now, but still rocks. I use it mainly for synth sounds: it can get fat or it can sparkle, always with an impressive audio clarity. The Prophecy expansion board is outstanding: it´s basses and dirty leads are HEAVY. Overall, Trinity is extremely well built, with well laid controls and an excellent semi-weighted Yamaha keybed (mine is 61 keys).
