The Fuzzlord FTW45 Guitar Amp Head is loosely based off of a JTM45/Bassman. It takes pedal extremely well. Very Clean with minimal breakup even when jumped and cranked.

The Pro Boost is the reissue of the legendary Colorsound "Power Boost" (later renamed "Overdriver"). Among the players that used this legendary gadget back in the seventies there were David Gilmour, Jeff Beck or Marc Bolan. The Pro Boost is a very versatile pedal that can be used for a variety of purposes. It has plenty of clean output volume so it can be used for a volume boost (if there's enough clean headroom in the amp) or it can be used to crank the valves of any amp. But the Pro Boost is also a powerful distortion pedal. A master volume was added so the original volume knob can be used now as a gain knob making available all the distortion capability of the circuit at any output volume. The cranked sound of the Power Booster-Overdriver could be classified as "distortion" rather than "overdrive" or "fuzz"; it's a very characteristic quacky and raspy sound with a nice clean up through the guitar's volume knob. I build the original 18V circuit which provides more headroom; it can be powered with 9V as well. Unlike the original Power Boost, Overdriver and subsequent clones the Pro Boost is fully hand built using the point-to-point construction on perf board, no PCBs are used by Manlay Sound.

The amp has brilliant tone for both clean and heavy distortion. BIG SOUND, great warmth and articulation.
When the amp is not being played it is quiet with no wierd humms or buzz. It can spank out warm jazz and acoustic tones and then bulge with MONDO killer authentic distortion. Not metal and crunchy and MesaDano compressed. Pure organic distortion. Think Sabbath... the designer in the USA did !

This particular amp was originally owned by an awesome Oregon, USA customer who was a roadie for the band YOB. He wanted it because Mike Scheidt in YOB purchased the very first BLACK Amp in the USA and loved his tone as well.

When the amp arrived in the USA the black amp sleeve was torn on the inside and the back panel had been glued by someone in the UK Shop. [as shown in the photo above] When it was being set up, MATAMP USA realized that the reason the back was broke was due to the fact the sleeve was made too narrow. The VOLTAGE jack on the side tore the vinyde being crammed in the sleeve and that is what broke the panel corner too. Hence they glued it and shipped.

Per customer approval Matamp USA put the amp into a temp GREEN vinyde sleeve and shipped the amp out. It went on tour with YOB, and many wondered what was up with the BLACK amp. MATAMP USA replaced the amp sleeve with a the new correct black one. Later on Mike in YOB acquired the amp permanently into his rig line up. He ran two of these BLACK GTO's from 2001 through 2005. Now he has traded the amp unit in for a new ELECTRIC AMP.

This unit is in great shape, and has been played by a pro musician in a working band on stage and in the studio. ALL of the functions work great. The filter knob seems stiff, but works great. With exception of the crack in the back panel the amp is awesome to excellent. Mike takes care of his gear in good fashion, and has a great tech in Oregon.

The new owner of this amp will enjoy lots of good tone and volume and the last of the simple amps that were made in the UK. Also, the last of the BLACK logo amps authorized by the USA to be made in England.

The GT120 is a reissue of the original 70s amp. Unmistakable Green Matamp organic sound at incredible sound pressure levels or classic Matamp warm clean.

The preamp is the original circuit including the four position drive switch, bass boost and presence/boost circuit incorporating the inductor.

The key to this amp is its clean tone. The preamp has origins going back to the days of Orange Matamp when Peter Green described the tone he wanted to Tony and Mat as “sweet….but not like treacle…like honey.” Coupled with four EL34s the warm sweet clean tone is a perfect match for fuzz.

The power amp has been slightly updated to feature individual bias adjustment per valve. This makes matched sets a thing of the past and enables the user to replace a single valve while still maintaining optimum performance.

The big difference in this reissue is that the amp is now hand wired on turret tracks, our hybrid PCB turret construction method that we have been using throughout this millennium. Greatly improving reliability and serviceability over previous versions, including the original amps from the 1970s. We have searched the country to find a transformer company still capable of making transformers that live up to the quality and reliability of the old units.

The GT120 can drive multiple cabs from the 4, 8 & 16 ohm speaker outputs. The amp has been updated to allow multiple cabs to be connected direct from the head without daisy chaining.

Most bassists rarely use effects, but HAO’s Bass Liner Preamp may be seen in front of more bassists’ feet in the future.

While an English manual isn’t provided, the unit is pretty simple to use. It’s got a lot going on in a small package, including five individual EQ knobs controlling the frequency spectrum from 50 Hz to 12 kHz. The level and input gain controls are front and center. The two switches are a mute, and a simple on/off switch. There are two outputs, one that is a typical signal out, as well as a direct out. Hooking up a tuner to the direct output, and using the mute switch enables silent tuning. The other option is to run this signal to a separate channel or mixer to switch the two signals. It runs on a 9v battery, but will work with 9 and 18V power adapters. The 18v gives a lot more headroom and is a bit quieter.

Regardless of the pickup type, it sounds great, and even with passive single coils, the sound is rich and full. The EQ is quite flexible, and the input gain gives grit, not overdrive. Boost the mids for more punch, or drop the highs for a warmer tone, without getting any flubbiness. When boosting the lower frequencies, it does just that; it doesn’t mess with the other EQ spectrums. For a bass player who really wants to sculpt their tone, this is perfect! Using it as a boost to jump out of the mix when needed, such as the rare times there’s a solo or breakdown, and the sound guy can’t be counted on to adjust the mix.

For a bassist “on the go” this pedal is well worth it; the ability to control the tone, regardless of the amp being used, is a godsend, and considering it’s small enough to fit into a gig bag, the price is well worth it.
