The 1490 Blues Blaster Harmonica Microphone by Hohner
The Hohner Blues Blaster was a harmonica-microphone originally built as a remake of the classic Astatic JT-30 , one of the legendary “bullet” mics that helped define the raw “Chicago blues” amplified harp sound.
It uses a high-impedance crystal (originally “MC-151”) element under a die-cast metal body with a deep-blue enamel finish and chrome grille.
The mic includes a built-in volume control , a feature many traditional harmonica bullet-mics lacked , giving the player direct control over output volume when plugged into an amp.
The Blues Blaster was built to give that gritty, saturated blues-harp tone when cupped tightly against the harmonica and run through a tube amp , often described as a “fat electric Chicago harp sound.”Specs:
• Transducer / Element: Crystal (originally Astatic MC-151)
• Polar Pattern: Omni-directional
• Frequency Response: ~ 30 Hz – 10,000 Hz
• Output Level (at 1 kHz): –49 dB (≈ 3.6 mV)
• Impedance: High-impedance (recommend load ≥ 500 kΩ)
• Body / Housing: Die-cast zinc alloy housing, chrome-plated grille, deep-blue acrylic enamel finish
• Dimensions: ~ 78.6 mm length × 58.7 mm diameter (≈ 3.1" × 2.3")
• Weight: ~ 283.5 g (≈ 10 oz)
• Volume Control: Built-in potentiometer (0.5 W, conductive plastic) on the housing
• Connector / Cable: Older versions came with a 6 m cable ending in female Cannon → 1/4″ jack for amp input (with minimum amp input impedance ~ 250 kΩ)Production Notes:
• The Blues Blaster is essentially Hohner’s re-branded version of the Astatic JT-30.
• According to documented history, Hohner offered the Blues Blaster from the mid-1980s onward.
• When the original Astatic crystal elements (MC-151) ran out around 2001, Hohner switched to a Japanese-built replacement.
• Production of the Blues Blaster reportedly ended around 2013. - Marked item as Vintage or Discontinued

The Celeste African-Tuned Karimba with Pickup by Hugh Tracey
The two rows of tines on the Karimba are laid out in a centuries-old traditional African system that makes beautiful African melodies pop out easily.
This model has an electronic pickup.
The karimba is similar to the mbira from Zimbabwe. It has 17 tines organized in two rows, but at first glance the organization isn’t logical.
However, as you begin to learn how to play this instrument, you will discover its inherent logic, which especially lends itself to a traditional African sound.
Andrew Tracey says that this is closely related to THE ORIGINAL metal-tined kalimba from 1300 years ago.Specs:
• Similar to the Mbira from Zimbabwe
• 17 tines organized in two rows
• Weight 1.2 lbs
• Dimensions 5.5 × 8 × 1.9 in

This is an option for playing complex, chromatic music with medium or smaller hands.
Hugh Tracey Treble Box Chromatic Kalimba w Pickup, in C, 17 notes each side.
On the front side, this kalimba is just like a 17-Note Kalimba in C: it has 2 octaves plus 2 more notes on top, or 17 notes ranging from C 4 (middle C) to E6.
On the back is a “left handed” kalimba of 17 notes in the key of B. This means that there are B’s and F’s on both the front and back.
The tines are smaller and there are more on the front (17 instead of the Alto’s 15), and given that there are no gaps on the back because it has all the notes in the key of B (the gaps in the Alto chromatic design help you to keep your place on the back side where your fingers play the notes, where your eyes cannot see).Specs:
• Kalimba: Treble Box Chromatic
• Sides: 17-Note Each Side
• Notes: C4 (middle C) to E6
• Special: The tines are smaller
• Weight: 1.2 lbs

The Vintage (1949-1953) 5B1 Champion 600 Amplifier by Fender
The Fender 5B1 “Champion 600” is one of the earliest tube guitar amplifiers from Fender , built between 1949 and 1953.
It followed the Champion 800 and was designed as a compact, affordable “student-amp,” yet over time gained a cult status for its classic, warm, low-watt tube tone.
The Champion 600 replaced the earlier Champion 800 (which had an 8″ speaker) , the 600 reduced speaker size to 6″ for a more compact design.
Originally housed in a small “TV-front” cabinet covered in two-tone blonde & brown vinyl, it was later offered (towards the end of the 5B1 run) in a “Wide-Panel” tweed-cabinet version before Fender evolved the design further.
Because of its low wattage, modest size and simple circuit, it’s prized for practice, recording, or small-venue use , and for that classic old-school Fender sound.
In 1953, Fender updated the cabinet design from the “TV-front” vinyl style to a tweed-covered “Wide-Panel” cabinet (still under the 5B1 designation), before eventually moving on to the next circuit revision (5C1) and subsequent designs.
Although originally conceived as a student/practice amp due to its modest power, many players historically appreciated its ability to deliver natural tube overdrive at manageable volume , especially for recording or small venues.
Today, surviving original 5B1 Champion 600s are considered rare collector’s items; cosmetic condition, originality of speaker and tubes, and working electronics significantly affect their collector value.Specs:
• Model / Circuit: Champion 600 , Circuit 5B1
• Production Years: 1949–1953
• Output Power: ~ 3–4 watts (often referred to generically as “about 5 W”)
• Speaker: 1 × 6-inch speaker (4 Ω)
