From clean echoes to chaotic soundscapes

Mimeophon can be used as a standard delay effect by setting the time and the feedback as wanted. It is also possible to make the echoes play backwards and to desynchronize them from one ear to another in stereo mode. Things get very interesting when echoes are extremely short and the feedback is pushed to its extreme : Mimeophon hence turns into a real drone generator, with an incorporated reverb and a low pass filter to adjust the hugeness of the sound. As each knob and control is patchable, it is possible to use the module as an impressive tone generator that can be played in tune with a keyboard. Aesthetically speaking, the object has the typical hieroglyphic look of a Make Noise module ; nonetheless it is more intuitive to use at start than most of their other products. Any aficionado of warm ambient music will appreciate tweaking its knobs.

Inspiring box

Sober looking sampler. An instrument by itself, that allows you to modulate your grooves and patterns into unexpected horizons. As it is super compact, it's easy to bring everywhere. The integration to a system of other gear is more complicated, yet there are tons of help and tutorials around the web.

Thick sounds for a skinny body

This is a cheap alternative for the infamous Parker Maxxfly (Adrian Belew, Vernon Reid...). It misses the whammy bar and the woods are different (maple neck and ebony fretboard instead of the curious mahogany neck and carbon glass-epoxy fingerboard found on the father model). However, for the quarter of the price of an American piece, you still have the essence of what makes Parker so particular in the guitar industry, which implies : the ghost piezos giving the humbuckers a warm electro-accoustic type of sound ; a short 25.5 that allow fast playing and, the most surprising, an incredibly light weight. All those specs match with a confortable playing for a versatile range of sonorities (fusion jazz, heavy metal or all kind of noisy experimentations). This brand has made unique instruments and it is unfortunate to see that they do not produce guitars anymore. Mr. Parker, if you hear me, please come back !

Hot and soulful fuzz

Compact but solid germanium fuzz. Knobs help setting the high pass, the saturation amount (so-called "anger") and the output volume. A switch lets choose between three different amount of bass, allowing changes from gritty blues to in-your-face riffing. For a total tweaking, a tone cut can attenuate the top end. The noise obtained is rich and versatile enough to avoid the trap of a muddy fuzz. I use it for psychedelic rock as well as for more hardcore playing.

Good for metropolitan blues

Nice for playing in an appartement. The sound is warm and hot, it perfectly suits the blues. Mine was bought first hand at a ridiculous price compared to the power of the box. What's more, it has an elegant killer look. One drawback is the absence of modulation functions or reverb.

NB : Should be categorized as amp instead of music accessory.

Solid but out of update

Served me for me years but unfortunately now obsolete through Logic Pro. I replaced it by a Focusrite 2i2 with similar characteristics.
