This 8 by 8 grid controller was originally intended for use with Ableton Live but quickly got adopted by
users from other DAW's such as FL Studio.
Each button can be programmed to generate any MIDI message on the touch, such as notes, clips
with MIDI-notes (short melodies), samples or even automation clips that control the character of a
sound over time. As such this is a very compact tool to be used in the widest and most creative
sense.
I use it in sound design as well as composing music but i've yet to perform live.
