Looks great sound mediocre and alternative pickups sound even worse
The guitar look stunning for the record and the additional electrical components work very well but the sound is just not that great, no variety in tone and the pickups you can change out sound awful. I sold the guitar quit quickly, upgraded to a Epiphone Limited Edition 1966 G-400 PRO, It even sound more blue-zy than the Jazzmaster! The bridge was installed incorrectly and the low e string was almost hanging off the neck.

Best guitar I own
I love this guitar, I travel quite a bit because of school and I have dented this thing quite a few times and it just keeps roaring away! The neck pickup is stunning, It has that perfect sound of an acoustical guitar played through a tube amp that is just about to break. The bridge pickup is awesome for $100-$125, couple that with a good distortion pedal and you can sound like Def Leppard, just the neck pickup for a song like Hysteria and the bridge for something like Photograph. Bolt on neck which is a plus for me and medium jumbo frets which are my favorite! Such a great deal for the variety in tone!

Great, not perfect but great (for me)
So the SG is a classic guitar, put in some alnico humbuckers and coil tapping and you have the look and the sound. I loving playing both hard rock and soft rock (or Rush and Pink Floyd). Without coil tapping I couldn't get the bluesy sound that resembles a Strat. This guitar is Start living in an SG with humbuckers. Only Caveats for me are the Jumbo frets and the set in neck, I like bolt on necks and I like medium frets, but this being a great guitar makes up for it. the "bad parts" just boil down to personal tastes

Great guitar, poor bridge
The bridge was designed back when strings were a lot heavier, now that strings are thinner the old style bridge is terrible, if you are playing power chords over and over then the strings will get out of place. I recommend changing the bridge for with a mustang bridge. otherwise its great for a medium player, the guitar can hit some great notes and is very versatile.
