Nathan Sharp - NateWantsToBattle's Gear
In Nate’s acoustic cover of the Pokémon Theme as well as his cover of Simple and Clean from Kingdom Hearts, he sings into what appears to be an AKG C314 judging by the color of the back of the microphone. This is most easily seen in his Simple and Clean cover, as in his Pokémon Theme cover the mic is covered by a windscreen, making the mic harder to make out. I’m not sure if this is the exact mic that was used to record the vocals of this song.
Note: the original music video for Nate’s Simple and Clean cover is no longer on the Give Heart Records channel as of 05/16/25, but the video is still watchable through his acoustic VG mix compilation.
In the music video for Nate’s acoustic cover of the Pokémon Theme, his guitar is mic’d with a Shure SM57. I presume this is the same mic he mic’d his guitar with in the music video for his Simple and Clean cover, however the mic stand and clip are out of frame in that video, making the microphone impossible to see. It is unknown weather or not this mic was used in the recording of either one of those covers.
In Nate’s cover of White Noise from Tokyo Revengers, he’s seen singing into a Shure SM7b with a lot of stickers on it. If there are any other example or mentions of him using this microphone, feel free to add them.
In the music video for Live Long Enough To Become The Hero, Nate uses a Shure SM58 with white duct tape on it. This is most easily confirmed by the spherical look of the microphone’s grill. The microphone with the same duct tape can also been seen in the music videos for his covers of “Thnks Fr Th Mrs” by Fall Out Boy and “Victorious” by Panic! At The Disco, and the mic can be seen without duct tape in the music videos for StopRewind and his cover of Hard Times by Paramore.
In many of Nate’s older music videos, he is seen singing into a Blue Encore 100 wrapped in green duct tape. Some of the clearest views of this mic can be seen in the music video for Let Me Try.
