A while ago i found 2 packs of 20 picks from some brand called Alice in my apartment (they were from a roommate that had moved out months ago). They were glossier than the Dunlop tortex i was used to which i did find kinda nice since they stuck to my fingers more but they had 2 problems:
1: They wore out pretty quickly, heavy playing does that but they really went quickly.
2: i couldn't play solos as fast
y'see ever since i caught 2 guitar picks from Frank Iero shows in 2017 (his band uses Dunlop tortex sharp picks) i've been used to using sharp picks cause i can play a bit faster with those. with the sharp picks i can make the point smaller and hit strings a bit more precise which makes going fast a lot easier. So for christmas i got a bulk of sharp 1.14 mm picks and a variety pack with sharp picks with different thicknesses.
so i recommend not just trying out different thickness but also different shapes, you might be surprised what works for your playing style

What is the best way to record with Boss Katana Amp?
I've had my Boss Katana for a bit over a year and really love it for practice and trying out new effects. But I've tried to record guitar tracks through it a few times and it's not been as easy as i'd hoped. Searching through forums i've seen people suggest changing EQ settings for a better tone (which has helped) but the amp can also be a bit troublesome with backing tracks cause they seem to want to be played through the amp instead of through my standard speakers. that problem seems to go away when i attach headphones to the amp but then the sound quality goes down.
so theres a lot of stuff i still don't know, does anyone on equipboard have advice on how to record with a Boss Katana (50W) amp?
What DAW should you use?
Can a backing track go through different speakers than the amp?
How do you get good tone for recording with the amp?
