The one I always return to

When I got my first real job, I bought a Music Man Sterling with my first paycheck. I really liked the slim neck, being a Jazz Bass person, and played that bass for years. I really liked it! The sound, the looks, the materials - all perfect!

At some point, for some reason (probably money), I ended up trading it for some bass that was eventually sold and forgotten.

I always regretted that, so much so that I had to buy it back. I tried to track it, but I never found that old bass, but then, one surfaced at the Bass Gallery in London. I didn't hesitate.

Greased Lightning

This one is lightning fast. Murderous, growly tone provided by two (made by?) Lollar Thunderbird-style pickups. As a JM4 Oltre, the relic finish is done in a perfectly boutique style. I initially was going for a gloss finish, but when I saw this, I couldn't have any other version. Great bass for gigging as it already has wear and tear, so the dings on the road really don't bother at all!

The best "workhorse" 5 string

Awesome sound and build quality to match. This was made at a time when Fender was still on top of its game. The American Elite and American Ultra lines that came after didn't match this apex of the 5-string jazz bass.

Sounds equally amazing in live and studio settings for pop/rock. I would imagine this bass lends itself equally well to jazz. N3 Fender Noiseless pickups deliver.
