Its a 50 yr old Fender that was chopped. I got it in DC on tour and its my favorite P bass. Just got it running (dead pickup) and am using it more than any other bass. Some USA small brand nylon coated strings that I prefer to roto trubass.
I bought this in London at Music & Video Exchange. I was in a TV show house band (Jonathan Ross with Steve and Pete from Attractions and Kevin from Iggy Pop) and we had Roy Orbison as a guest so I thought Id buy my 1st P bass in his honour. I used everything but P and J basses cause i wanted to be different. Now I swear by them but still use many other kinds. Roy didnt come to rehearsal so Kevin went out to find someone to sing... He brought back a substitute... Robert Fucking Plant who was a big, Big O fan.
Mine is actually an Epiphone brand made at Fujigen in Japan and its a really great T-Bird. I think better than the US made ones of the 80s and 90s. They were also sold under Orville and Greco. I had some vintage T bird pickups that I installed which I think are 1960s so it has balls. Love it!
Everyone knows that the B15 is a fab amp. The studio bass amp of choice for pro players and producers. Theres a certain balance they have that sits in a track. Not always the best amp for every bass but great with most esp P basses. Mine belonged to the king of em all James Jamerson.
