The Hello-Thread: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself 👋

I would love to have an ESQ1! I used to have an EPS 16+ Turbo for about 15 years. It served me well, but I sorta regret passing on an M1 and a JD-800 to buy it (I was young and not very knowledgeable of synths at the time). My DX-7 II is in great physical shape, but needs some internal TLC. The headphone output is bad, so I have bought a new jack assembly (have yet to install it). The pitch wheel only pitches down (the output, not the wheel), so I am on the lookout for a wheel assembly (could just be a bad pot, but probably easiest to replace that whole part).

Also, a lot of my factory sounds suddenly have modulation on them. After some online research, it seems I may have to reload my sysex files via MIDI from my pc? I think I'd rather put the work into it myself, than sell it, I'm just having a hard time finding a replacement pitch wheel assembly.

The D-50 was a gift from a friend, believe it or not. The synth was just sitting in a case under his bed for years, and he was not interested in selling it to me, so he just handed it over! It came with two sound cards, and works great, though I get some static with the volume slider. Not sure how to fix that (I usually just leave it in one position anyway).

Sorry, didn't mean to get all Chatty Cathy on you! :)

The Hello-Thread: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself 👋

Hello everyone,

My name is Jim, I am from Phoenix, AZ, USA, 45 years old. I have been a musician since I was 14. I am a guitarist first, but also love synths of all kinds - analog, digital, workstations, whatever appeals to me. I grew up in the '80s, and was heavily influenced by alternative music from that era - Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Ministry, and any kind of post-punk, goth, industrial, new wave, and synthpop.

I was in a few bands over the years, but didn't release my first album until 2012. I am now working on album #2, and hoping to assemble a live band for some fun gigs. I love gear, and am still in the market for a new bass guitar and guitar FX unit.

If you want to hear the music I make, I have my full length album, singles, and a couple of live/cover comps on Bandcamp. Everything is free, if you wish to download any of the songs. 'Between Hope and Fear' is the full-length album. I wrote and performed all music and lyrics, and a friend helped record and mix the album:

I will try to be a regular on the forums..the discussions look very interesting and appealing. Pleased to meet you all!
