A tube amp of a solid state amp. It doesn't seem like it, but this amp is veratile.
This amp has a stunning, shimmering and responsive clean tone. The distortion and reverb make it surprisingly versatile even when the EQ knobs are not very sensitive, (except for the bass, I feel this amp has a TON of bass). When the distortion is engaged you get a very classic tube like overdrive that is very distinct and unique, very fat and sort of bright. My personal favorite thing to do with this amp is too use a boost pedal (amp boost off) with the distortion on 10. It give a biting, cutting, but very fat and wide sounding distortion when the treble is high. I love this amp, they are relatively light and very durable, it just inspires me hugely! it can be used for doom, thrash, alternative, pop, and I think this amp would especially good for surf, even though I've never legitimately played surf on it, I can tell that the giant sounding spring reverb, brite and clear sound in it would be perfect for surf. It is also very easy to use and dose not require much tedious tweaking. If you can, Go buy one!
Both good for nostalgic indie-alt and Fucking Doom Heaviness
This is my favorite amp of all time. It is durable, super light, loud, and most of all. It sounds fucking sweet! I can best liken the sound to a more usable, natural sounding big muff. it has 2 independent channels that can be played in parallel, separate, or I think you can put it in series if you use the rear outputs. This thing also has a very distinct reverb, it doesn't sound like your typical solid state-spring reverb. (I believe its analogue actually). It can get really big or, dial it in for a little more room. The two channels with two independent reverbs enable you to create some very studio sounding reverb mixing tricks; without having a studio!! even though its' fuzzy asf, it can used for a ton of different genres. I think alternative fits it best but that's just IMO. it a obviously is a great stoner-doom-sludge-drone metal/rock amp but with the right tweaks it could be used for thrash, Psychedelic, poppier stuff, Frickin whatever. Also, MOSFET and C-MOS amps (like this one) tend to have that sort of warmth that tubes do, and with the right speakers, I would guess you could get it to respond like one too. It's one of those amps that really has its own color no matter what eq or speaker, it sort of always sounds like a Sunn Beta Lead; but somehow also very versatile. (keep in mind I've only tried mine through 2 or 3 speakers but I've also heard other people on youtube and such creating sounds very similar). The best way I can describe this amp is that it enables you to be creative. If you find one for cheap, Go grab one! if you can't find one cheaper then grab a Sunn concert lead, also similarly excellent!
