utterly ridiculous control scheme, but tons of fun
I've been playing guitar since the 80s, in bands or at home for my own amusement. I've never used the Melee live, and I don't think I'd want to without a lot of pre-work. I'm not particularly gentle with my gear on stage. Maybe Dremel out a guide for the joystick to keep it where I want, or keep it on top of the amp or something. In the studio it's a ton of fun, though. You can probably find another way to produce these noises, but will you be doing it with an unapologetic joystick? Probably not. Caveat emptor, seriously. You should watch all of the available demo videos if you're considering it. YMMV, but I frickin love this thing. The ability to swap order of the reverb and distortion effects is dope. In my opinion, the price is justified for a niche pedal like this once you've figured you want it. I'd rate it 5 stars on principle, but it's too narrowly applicable.

This is the right amount of money to spend for a great screamer
I've been playing guitar since the 80s, in bands or at home for my own amusement. I've used tube screamers for a long while, and I like my ODR-1 with the bass cut switch because I didn't have to go looking for fancy modded pedals or wait for someone to sell a vintage TS, I paid their price and now I have something that works every time I want a tube screamer sound. I don't expect a pedal to be perfect for every situation, I'm fine with adapting my playing a bit to suit the situation. Don't expect this to match your brain's perfect TS sound, if you've got one of those in mind, but it'll give you a great touch scream and you'll have a ton of fun with it.

For the money, it's fine
I've been playing guitar since the 80s, in bands or at home for my own amusement. Over the years I've used two of these that band members owned, and own one myself because it was $20. For $20, it's a great tube screamer clone. It sounds better than a lot of DAW plugins I've used, and it doesn't cost a lot of money. If something breaks or the build quality concerns you, rehouse it in a different case and you'll be able to convince people it's a boutique TS clone as long as you find and mark some sweet spots. I don't recommend pushing a strongly boosted signal into it, but relatively early in the chain it's fine. Oh, and every single one of these plastic-housed Behringer pedal I've ever messed around with tries to push patch cables out, so mount it on something stable and don't let the cables jiggle around. Again, you can buy it for $20, set your expectations accordingly or buy something else.
