Am Anfang habe ich ewig lange mit verschiedenen Gitarren herumprobiert: Von einer Gibson Melody Maker über eine Flying V bis hin zu meiner Baritone-Gitarre, die ich jetzt spiele. Ich kannte Baritone-Gitarren zuerst gar nicht und war mir auch nicht darüber im Klaren, dass man eine Gitarre ziemlich tief herunterstimmen kann. Ich bin nicht der klassische Mucker-Typ, sondern komme vom Learning-by-Doing. Das erste Album habe ich dann mit einer 200 Euro teuren Squier-Tele eingespielt, weil ich gar nicht darüber nachgedacht hatte, dass man mit dem Instrument an sich schon unseren Sound hätte optimieren können.
Ja. LTD waren so nett, mir ein paar Restposten ihrer Viper-Gitarre zur Verfügung zu stellen, die ja so gar nicht mehr gebaut wird. Heute gibt es sie nur noch in der Les-Paul-Form, die mir nicht so gut gefällt. Ich nehme immer sofort diese schrecklichen aktiven Pickups raus und baue meine Lieblings-Tonabnehmer ein.
Bill Lawrence – ausnahmslos und immer die gleichen. Die habe ich in unzähligen Gitarren und finde den Sound einfach unfassbar gut.
